Everyday while walking to work I pass by a certain establishment, let's say this establishment allows ladies to dance around a pole with fairly loose rules on garments they wear or choose not to wear. At this establishment you as a patron are encouraged to tip according to the dancers skill (looks play a huge factor as well). For this is the means in which these "dancers" make money.

This particular dance studio I walk by daily while headed to work is like a 'hypothetical' grown man's kaleidoscope, I see it from the outside everyday and I know if I ever choose to step through the doors to the kaleidoscope observatory there would be vibrant colors within holding my attention for possibly hours on end. It's just a matter of time before one can walk by a perfectly functioning kaleidoscope and not want to at the least see what the view inside is all about. So let's say if mentioned kaleidoscope had a name, the name would be Pumps. Last Friday was a beautiful day for kaleidoscope viewing at Pumps:

1) It's Thursday on the eve of a 3 day weekend
2) Payday
3) No one I email / call is picking up
4) Viewing of kaleidoscope is very Patriotic

Fast forward to post kaleidoscope viewing. Juiced off the beverages at which they serve at such an establishment and feeling nice. Skated across the Williamsburg Bridge to drop of payday check at WAMU only to find, no check?? Shit! Knowing it was delicately folded and placed within my 5th pocket before trip to Pumps. Dumb luck or lifted from scantily dressed ladies who work at past visited establishment? My thoughts leaning towards the latter. Nothing I can do at the moment, proceed to local watering hole to shake it off.

Next day receive an anonymous email from Alice via Myspace with kind words and the golden ticket, my check! Seems I had dropped it while skating across the Williamsburg bridge, while Alice was taking a Thursday night jogging session she found my check folded up and crumpled to the side of the bridge path. So I received the check this week via USPS with the enclosed letter seen below held together with a dope alligator type lizard stamp.

First off, who does this and who does this in a city of 8 million plus people?!! I was honestly taken back by the length she went to first track me down then, send check back along my way. Not only that I came in Monday to find that before I had emailed her back, she had called & left a voice mail on my work phone. This woman is amazing! Alice receives something very special for her efforts, the first ever Two Cents honorary homegirl award! Jea... Alice, please feel free to stop by the site anytime you like.. The cost is free and the view is magnificent, you kill it with kindness!

Mixed in with bottle rockets, booze, patriotism, bbq's & rain, there was the Afro Punk festival. And did I mention they even built a skate park for the event? First time on the board in about two weeks, skated two days straight = my legs done come Monday.

The event is still going on throughout the week at BAM.
